I decided to have a Gold Party to celebrate the start of a new school year with my girlfriends and neighbors. I encouraged everybody to clean out their jewelry boxes and part ways with items they would never wear again. I was AMAZED by the amount of jewelry my guests brought over – some even returned home to get more pieces once they realized how much they could get for their old gold, broken necklaces and mis-matched earrings. We had so much fun swapping stories and telling tales of ex-boyfriends, ex-husbands and long lost fashion trends. The real surprise came at the end of the party when ‘Gold Buying Girl’ cut me a check for nearly $500. Earning such a big commission was an unexpected bonus to an already wonderful afternoon. When’s the next party?!
